In April, I ended up getting really backed up with work, and sort of neglected posting anything here for fear of not giving anyone enough time on the blog. Unfortunately, that turned into not posting ANYTHING on the blog for… well, a long time, really. So I wanted to right that wrong and post some older sessions that just haven’t been featured yet.

This session is of Jenn’s family. Jenn is one of my fabulous brides from a few years ago, back in Virginia. :) It was so great to see her and her fantastic family again.

One of the whole gang

This one involved giant bean-bag chairs!

Something a little more classic…

A very cute one of mom & dad together!

The happy couple (my favorite. Jenn, you NEED this one!)

Mike finds a garden gnome…

My personal favorite of everyone together.

…but this is a close second. I’m not overly decisive obviously.

However, they have a new (gorgeous) sister – Sheba! While she looks a lot like Brody – both mastiffs – they have such different personalities! Sheba’s so calm, relaxed… and reluctant to be in front of the camera! Brody, on the other hand, knows what a handsome boy he is… and he’s definitely NOT camera-shy! Brice… well, Brice is just Brice. Aside from being the only dog Hailey just loves to play with, he’s got the cutest little “snort” whenever he’s happy. It’s so cute to see three doggie siblings who just love each other so much!

Sheba, posing sweetly for the camera

Sheba again, showing off her great Mastiff wrinkles.

A family portrait of the whole family

A pair of mastiffs. Sheba’s laying down. Brody is sitting up. (Lizzy calls this “the engagement portrait”!)

The three together. Don’t they all look happy!

Anyway, please vote here! http://facesphotocontest.com/bin/Rate?image_id=1009410782

Apparently, we get a lot of rental pets. First a rental cat, and now – two cute doggies! These guys are Darby and Gizmo, friends of Hailey’s from when we traveled to the US. (Some day I might post those photos on the blog, too!) They are the sweetest dogs ever and make Hailey look like a monster in comparison. Gizmo’s the lapdog of the bunch. I think he might be part-cat but it’s hard to prove. He very much enjoys slumping over your shoulder to sleep, and has the cutest powder-puff tail that trembles when he’s happy. (So darn cute!) Darby’s the old, wise lady. For being fourteen, she is in amazingly good spirits. In fact, she acts more like a puppy than Hailey & Giz. Her favorite game here is chasing around this giant blue exercise ball.

What’s most amazing though is both of these dogs are near completely deaf. (I think they can hear clapping, or perhaps it’s just the vibration in the air they can sense.) That said, they are more attentive and better behaved (easier controlled?) than Hailey- who’s kind of a brat right now. She’s also super-jealous of them, so maybe it’s that. Anyway, without being able to use any noise makers or my famed “moo-in-a-can” during their session they sat there and posed beautifully the whole time. Better than most dogs who can hear, actually!

Darby, prancing around the studio. Technically an out-take, but I love her perfectly-shaped heart patch of fur. <3

Gizmo, annoyed that I’m making him sit for the camera.

Gizmo, watching over Darby, very curious
(right click and select view image. it looks better)

Both doggies, cuddling. (Stupid JPG compression ruining my background…)

My favorite – two doggies!

Love this one too… How cute are they!?

Darby, {p}laying around.

Love this because this is totally how they were the whole time. Gizmo, upright: “pet me, pet me” Darby, half asleep: “eh, pet him.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR! (And… uh… Happy Valentine’s Day too!)

I know, I know… I left you again, loyal blog-readers (and people who’ve subscribed but never actually read.) I am very backed up on posts for this blog! Do not fret – they will all be posted. We’re still settling in from two non-stop weeks touring the United States. I’ve been working ’round-the-clock on catching up, but I promise to get everything featured on here.

To start off my New Year’s Resolution (blog more) – here’s a post about this fantastic family of ten who came to the studio after Christmas.

Yes… ten. In my tiny studio. You might call it “A Christmas Miracle” that everyone could fit! This is the first time in years the O. Family was all able to be together for the Holidays. Part of the family lives here in Rome, working for the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) for the United Nations. But the rest of the family lives far-and-wide, from England to the United States, to Nigeria. It was such an honor to be asked to photograph such a milestone, and for such a fun family too! Thank you, guys, for letting me share in your Holiday fun!

The family of five siblings has grown by leaps and bounds. These first three images are the siblings with spouses and family.

My favorite! Everyone looks so happy. I should photograph the canvas of this to blog about, but it just doesn’t do it justice. (Totally buying another for a sample!)

Hysterical! We had three little ones in the session. I love how their world just revolves around getting that bottle!

Mom & Dad together

Sister and Brother (here in Rome)

You might remember this fabulous family of three from a few months ago. Happy to announce, that Baby M. has finally arrived! And, of course, he’s incredibly cute. Like really, really cute.

Also, dog-brother Nelson is just too sweet about having a new baby. He just loves his new brother so much. Adorable! :)

I figured I’d post some lovely black and white’s of the family for this blog post.

Just look at those little lips. Doesn’t he have gorgeous eyes too?

Probably my favorite “photographer” shot… teeny tiny toes

Mom and Dad call this one “the face” – it certainly is!

I absolutely adore this one. Love how his little tiny nose is being tickled. :)

If ever there was an expression of “did I do that!?”…

Ok, so I had to throw in ONE color one… c’mon – look at that face! See, I told you he was really really cute!

And of course, here’s a (near-complete) video of the session too!

Doesn’t she look just like a miniature black panther? Of course, that’s why her owners named her “Jag”! She’s the teeny-tiniest little (full-grown) kitty I’ve ever seen. Super adorable, with gorgeous black fur and big yellow eyes. She’s just the cutest little thing. Unlike Andy, I have to admit that Jag wasn’t so excited about having her portrait done. She wasn’t overly excited about a can of tuna… she seemed to appreciate the leftover dry food that Rental Cat refused to eat though! I’m glad somebody liked it anyway.

I’m pretty sure she’s sharpening her claws…

How pretty are those eyes? Love this one of her.

Ok, so I know I normally don’t do props… but she just loved (chewing on) her ribbon so much!

My absolute favorite. This will be her LOVEmutts image!

Dave assisted me on Cat-Wrangling for the session. I’m pretty sure Jag thinks she’s in charge though!

This is Andy, one of the absolute cutest kitties I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! Completely easy to control, totally happy to be photographed. Why you ask? I think the answer might be the full can of Bumblebee tuna he scarfed down during the session! Funniest part, though… he was SO excited to eat tuna he literally WAGGED his tongue!

Now, normally when I edit down cat images, I pull out all the images where the cat looks mad or he’s running away (or both). In this case, Andy was perfectly (purr-fectly! haha, get it?) happy to be there, stayed put… his edits, however, were removing all the ones where his tongue was happily hanging out of his mouth! (Ok, well most – I included a really cute one of him.)

Andy will be one of the stars in the upcoming LOVEmutts book. If you have an adopted mutt (cat or dog!) please email the studio!

How cute is this face?!

Gray on Gray, in Gray. My favorite. He works great in Black and White!

See! There’s that tongue again. Pbthththt!

Absolutely love his big green eyes. Just gorgeous

Purrrr… (content after tuna!)

Spinning! (Again, for tuna)

Look at this… regularly scheduled blog posts!

Here are a few recent ones… The I Family found me through the US Embassy Auction last April, and we finally found some time to meet this past weekend. On Sunday, we did a great family portrait – first in the studio, then out in beautiful Villa Borghese. What’s even more fun? The family portrait turned into a Family Boat Ride – in front of a beautiful Greek temple, surrounded by colorful autumn trees and lots of ducks.

And of course, Miss Tina, mixed-breed Terrier, will be making an appearance in the upcoming LOVEmutts!

One for the book. Tina, looking super-adorable!

The three kids together.

Mom & Dad have a minute to themselves.

And Tina makes 3…

Out at Villa Borghese, having a great time

A few more from Borghese

Love the blue with those bright yellow autumn leaves

And we ended the day with a boat-ride around the park. (Tina’s with me. Don’t worry.)
